It has a ‘Steps to Zero’ plan which includes a focus on adoption of the circular economy which involves products that can be reused, have high recycled content, limit raw material usage and can be recycled at end of life.

Kulik said: “These have been designed to reduce the amount of cardboard used by 5% and contain over 85% recycled content. These are reused multiple times and we have established bailers at our mail centres to maximise recycling opportunities.” He said the company is also exploring reductions in the amount of elastic bands and single-use cable ties used in its operations.
“For any customers who use polylopes (plastic mailing bags) provided by Royal Mail, these already contain 30% recycled content. We’re looking to increase this further though and currently trialling within our Parcelforce Worldwide business an 84% recycled version.”
